So much talk about ridding the country of cash will only be helpful to the banks as they wont have to handle or count it. Maybe stop production of small coins but no cash?
We need cash for those small items too small to put on a card and how will maths be taught to children. They don't have access to credit cards when small - how can they understand without notes or coins and what about the .99 cents instead of $1... charge. There will be no need so everything will be rounded up - which actually means it'll be dearer to buy.
What does this mean for our tourists who bring in loads of money to the country? What happens when Australians travel overseas, unused to using cash? It'll cause more problems than it solves. |
