Spare a Thought for Spare Ribs

Have you ever wondered why were are only served "spare ribs"? What happens to the "other" ribs? Are they perhaps better tasting and fetch more money? Are they exported and hence we only get the "spares"? Have you ever been overseas and seen these special ribs on menus, ordered them and did they taste any different?
