Discussion of the Day
Has money made you happier? Three Pros and Cons.
Margarita SMar 19, 23
Often we hear from others like: "I will be happy if I have some certain amount of money".
Well, some amount can give us a comfortable life, but does it make us happier?
If we had all the money I wanted, how would it be?
Let's see at least three of the pros and cons:
Pros: Money is monumental work that keeps me busy and productive. Money allows me to buy something I always wanted but could not afford. Money brings respect in society.
Cons:Lack of family time. Jealousy and hatred from others. No true friends, all fake and love you only if you have money.
How about you? Want to share your thoughts on that topic?

Pros: Having enough money to live, take care of family, pets. Being able to enjoy life, not stay awake worrying all night. Buying new clothes every year, feeling more confident in yourself. Cons: I have never had a lot of money. Didn't win the lottery, no rich relatives.

I am probably not happier because I have the money I have but I know without that money I would be sadder. We need money for everything and without it life would be a lot different.

Not yet, but I haven't had a pile of money fall into my lap.

I am not sure if money makes us happy because happiness comes from within ourselves. Some of the poorest people are happy. I have met a few. However, money sure helps to reduce stressful times and I certainly know what that is about. My mother found money on the ground when she needed to buy us (kids at the time) food and she told me (before she passed away) that she was always provided for even if it was in a small way. That is gratitude! I share my mom’s experience. Help others when and where you can and leave the rest to good honest work. Money will come your way, and, if you do get a lot of money, share it. Good Luck as the Irish say, I wish you all a pot of gold!

Don't receive much more $ lately, but it does help with a couple of grocery visits!

Well I have lived pay check to pay check, pension day to pension day all my life from the age of 14. Money makes life a lot easier with money for better health care, better food, a decent roof over your head, ability to do things one can only dream about like travel, have some nice jewellery (nothing flashy just nice), decent clothes, shoes, etc. entertainment, and the list goes on. I am not greedy. For myself, $100,000 would pay my mortgage and other debts out and leave me a little to do a few things. Not much I might add. A little more to help my children out would be great. I find people get jealous of you no matter what your position in life is. True friends are hard to find. I moved to Queensland over 50 years ago and all of a sudden I had so many so called friends calling me up and saying they were coming up and would love to stay with me. NUP... I beat the next few by saying I can recommend a great motel etc. Funny, they never came up. Sorted them out quickly. To be honest my family were my best friends ( I had 3 sisters) and we did everything together. So I would like to try having money and I would be a happy person I think - no I know I would be. Tired of scrimping and trying to pay bills, put food on the table, pay a mortgage etc. and never even have money to go to a cafe to have a coffee. I am sure there are many out there in the same boat.

Enough money to allow for a stable life can contribute to happiness in that one would not be stressed all the time by worry. However, an abundance of money can lead to more stress and, thus does not ensure happiness!
