Items from Childhood
PTMar 18, 25
We all have childhood. There were always some items that we used, played or collected during that time. Some of them are still with us, which could be a toy, certificate from school/club, trophy or even just a towel you found comfort.
What are the items you still keep from childhood?

Never had toys as I was in hospital until I was 5 with clubbed feet. Made up for it in the sporting arena when i got older. Not in running but golf, water polo etc

I've still got lots of stuff from my childhood - books, toys, etc. 馃檪 Probably the only stuff that I did not keep are things that were simply too broken, most of my old Lego sets (unfortunately), and a couple of old home computers (unfortunately).

I didn't get to keep many things coz my mum often got rid of stuff like toys etc that I was 'too old for' when I was at school. But I do still have some of my Eeyore plush toys that I collected and backpack, I also have my furby backpack still too

my school awards, we were given books for high achievement in our year level with a certificate pasted in the front cover

Action figures. When I was 5 years old, my sister's boyfriend at the time gave me an 8 inch Mego Spiderman figure in removable cloth costume. Now that I'm 60...not only do I still have that figure, but I also have 1000's of other such figures. It's been a life long hobby/obsession of mine. The enjoyment of the "hunt" to get a complete collection is both a joy and a curse/lol.

When we were cleaning out my parents' house after my Dad died, I found an old Crisco can that I used to keep my little treasures in... the can was empty when found. I also found a Father's Day card I'd made him at school or in Sunday School. It says "To my dear father" and I signed with my first and last name. As though he wouldn't know me by just my first name?? It's all in crayon so I know I was young and I've put it on my fridge door with magnets. I think it's adorable. Other than those 2 items, I can't think of anything I've kept from my childhood... other than memories.

My mother鈥檚 buttons in a tin container and spools of coloured thread I played with as a child. They were what I asked for before mom passed. Now my grandchildren play with them.
                      • Grommie
still got my bear, but my parents chucked everything else. zero consultation

                          That's sad.

Mine did that with my stuff too, would do clean outs when I would be at school

at least mine waited until I'd gone to sea. I kept all my children's stuff, and now I regularly let the grandchildren take stuff back to their houses.. Otherwise they play with their parent's stuff at our place.

I have an old stuffed doll that was part of the Christmas decorations every year since I was about 3 or 4; for some reason, I named her "Trina". Every year, Trina's still part of the holiday display.

I moved to New Zealand when I was a teenager so all I brought was all my childhood photos and I cherish them even more now because I lost my mum last year and have family members who are no longer with us so I think that is one of the best things I have now along with beautiful memories

I do not have any toys but a picture of Raggady Amm that my dad painted for me that survived a lot of moving around. I treasure this for sure. Good day all.

WHAT IS YOUR POINT! FYI: I don't remember asking for your pity, I gave my childhood memories - which was WHAT the discussion was about.

Next thing I wonder is why didn't you do your best to move to a more safer location in order to improve your life. That gets back to my first reply.. don't complain if you don't try to help yourself

Wow, that's so sad and unfortunate. So many kids are growing up surrounded by horrors they can't seem to escape even when they're grown, and no matter how badly they want out of there. I know there are many complicated reasons for that and my heart aches for each one who is afraid of a stray bullet, afraid of gangs, afraid of walking down the sidewalk and looking at someone 'the wrong way' and getting beaten up, ... I'm truly sorry about Mike's reaction and I'm sure in your lifetime you've met up with a few Mikes. I do have empathy and compassion and love for you. And I have a Black Lives Matter t-shirt. Just because the woman who started the movement took off with a LOT of money, doesn't mean it isn't a real lesson for everyone. FYI, I did a 23&Me DNA test and I am .4% Black, and SO proud of it!! Just wanted you to hear my thoughts and know that I'm no Mike:)

Lots of people call them Koala Bears and even Sheldon in Big Bang Theory did but this is incorrect. Of course you were a child so it looked like a bear to you so understandable. They are cute to look at but can be nasty little devils.
