Not so much a singular invention, but a system - Private schools. I would love to see private schools closed and the funding put into supporting public schools at all levels. I see no reason why tax payers should support wealthy private schools putting in their next swimming pool , polo grounds or theatre when public school students struggle to fund fundamental facilities and services. Countries like Finland have no for profit private schools ( there are some private schools apparently, but they are not allowed to charge fees) and consistently rate extremely highly in educational standards rankings. 1) Automatic transmissions made it easier to drive too quickly. Just put into "D" for Dumbass and mash the Exhilarater. At least with a manual, you know when you're in top gear and capable of high speed. 2) Laser printers. I worked for a number of computer-illiterate managers who had no idea how to work on a document then Save and Send. They printed forms so they could write in the information, put it into an interoffice envelope and then walk it to the recipient.
