It’s too gross and inhumane. Plus, later in history when people became more civilised, food production became a lot more wide scale, affordable and easy to access. The law also made it less likely to happen. Did you know and can you believe that in few countries in the world, that cannibalism is outright illegal?

I think maybe cannibals are more human now. I mean we humans are trying to cut down on meat too.

I have only heard of cannibals being present in the early days of people being in existence

There are no doubt that some tribes still practice cannibalism however they are in very remote locations of some jungle areas and yet mankind seems more interested in sea and space exploration at present .

But do we actually know for certain that there are some tribes who still eat human flesh? From what we are told most of them once existed in Rainforests and other remote areas. Thanks to the Greed of so many a very large proportion of those lands have now been stripped bare of all forests etc. and the tribes have been virtually exterminated.
