In winter our dog would wear a dog coat on early morning walks to keep warm. Functional. I am not going to tell others what to do with their own pets so long as it's not harmful and the dog likes it. But it's not for me

Couldn't agree more Jennifer. I had a raincoat for my dog's rainy days and only that as an "accessory".

Absolutely ridiculous - they are living beings not toys - Go buy a doll if you want to dress it up like one. The only "clothes" the dog should be wearing is a warm jacket in the cold weather. People should donate the amount of money they spend on dressing up their pets to the shelters to help animals in need.

It disturbs me, but I would rather see that than see the dogs which are simply placed in backyards all day and not interacted with at all. Dressing them in 'clothes' is definitely the lesser of two evils.

Personally I'm not a fan of pets being dressed up in clothes but I do see the need for a coat for some dogs in winter.

I’m not a fan of pets in dresses and trousers but I think bow ties and fancy dress costumes for occasions (like Halloween) are cute

I don't agree with it at all, now in saying that I would not want to see a poor little dog feeling the cold when it could have a little jumper on. So some times it is needed but I do think it has gone way too far with jeans and dresses. The dog on the picture is dressed better than me. My sister has a whippet with 3 legs she rescued and she has t-shirts for him in winter but he never goes out side with them on, he feels the cold so I don't mind that. As they say the pet industry is a multibillion dollar industry, we go nuts over our pets and some go OTT. They wouldn't if they couldn't buy it to start with. It's all huge money and it is there for the making.

I do not believe in dressing up dogs in clothing unless it is winter, then a jacket to help keep the dog warm is perfectly acceptable.

To put some sort of light weight waterproof "jacket" on when it is raining is fine but to dress them up is, quite simply, Wrong. They have a perfectly good, natural , coat, their bodies use this to moderate their temperature naturally. Leave them alone. For the retailers which sell this rubbish it is just a money-making racket.

I think it's up to the dog parent and the dog. My little dog Tessie, loved being in warm coats on cold days but my Soxy will stand perfectly still and not move if I put a coat on her. I'd never put clothes on a dog if they didn't like it but that's just me. It's really the same as disliking what another person is wearing - it's their choice.

I definitely don't find it wrong because there are times when the hair on the dog feels so cold that I believe you are being kind to get them warmed up. My dog doesn't get dressed but he loves to hop under blankets if it is on the cold side. Good on the people who care for their dog and dress them.

I'm with you on this one Robyn ... they have their natural fur which they can shed in summer and I think grow longer/thicker in winter. Keep clean and well fed, just like humans clean clothes are warm clothes, guess the same goes for our fury friends for their all natural attire.

My poodle has a condition that has made him have very little hair now that he is older.

My poodle has a jacket for if it is cold, and he has a jacket that he has put on for the colder nights. not so keen on the dressed up ones that look like dolls.

oh goodness.. those jeans in the photo. But seriously- those jeans. Um no my wee dogs have always hated their coats even tho they get really cold. Our lovely old man dog from years ago had a coat for winter as he had lost his muscle mass and was scrawny.

I personally think pets are animals not dolls, so should not be dressed up. I do however have a 13.5 year old dog that does wear a coat in the rain or cold.-she hates rain but must have walk every day :)

It shows they love their animals. My dog has two jackets due to the cold and rain. My niece purchased a bumble bee outfit. I rarely put this on only indoors. Many dogs are left outdoors and people forget they feel the cold. Others may leave them on a chain for most of their lives. These are the most cruel people on the planet

I loved dressing my toy poodle in her pajamas and dresses and jackets, she was like a child to me. She died last year and I keep her clothes in her drawer and visit them when Im missing her :(

As a huge animal lover my "fur babies " are NOT fur babies but dear friends! What IS unfortunate is that, due to several societal factors, women aren't giving birth to babies until into their 30's when their most fertile and safest age for pregnancy has been left behind in the 20's! During this time, whether as a single person or as part of a pair, the human couple have their first "children " who have 4 legs instead of 2 and can be left at home alone or at Doggy Day Care while "mum and dad" work but check on in to see how Rover and Beau are doing through the security cameras and the app on their phone. They, Rover and Beau, probably aren't wearing their Sunday best today but I'm sure there'll be a "puppy playdate" shortly when the "mums" , having perused the generous selection of haute couture outfits in the babies closet to find the "perfect " outfit for the aforementioned occasion. This would be comical if it were not true! I accept that for most young couples buying a home of their own during the early years of their relationship is hard, and adding a human baby to the mix just isn't going to happen for at least 5 to 10 years and that's sad! Societies need babies to be born so that they can grow up and pay taxes and keep the circle of life spinning around. But the carousel appears to have stopped and some countries, like Japan, will cease to exist within 50 years and places like Italy and Germany will be seeded by the migrants who bought their Islamic religion and ideology from the continent of Africa to Europe in the early years of the 2010's as TPTB wanted to destabilise it. But getting back to Fifi and Lassie, well animals like to spend a lot of time grooming themselves and others in their family unit and it's REALLY hard to scratch that itch and bite those fleas when you've got a romper on and press- duds up the nether regions! I think, if the animals we care about could take a vote, that they'd be rooting for the "natural" look which I believe that God had in mind when he made our furry friends. If you MUST buy your animal friend anything well try and keep to holiday events like Christmas and donate that money you'll save to support a children's charity or get the mortgage paid sooner and you'll be able to hear the pitter patter of tiny human feet before long. Thanks for reading this and I hope that at least some of us can sleep tonight!
