Great Scott!... Back To The Future!
APBApr 02, 25
What time period would you choose?...let's see...go back for more than 50 years, and you are just starting to struggle with the language 200 years, and you are almost totally lost and everyone else is tiny...all these fun new diseases that no-one can cure...at some point no-one speaks any language you understand...and go back to the dinosaurs, and you would be unable to breathe the atmosphere...going back in time?... I wouldn't go back much further than when I was born...what do you think?

Not interested in going back in time. Happy where I am now in life.

I enjoyed growing up and being a teenager in the 80s. I鈥檓 not really sure if I would enjoy it now. And thinking of going back in time and having to lose so many loved ones all over again is something I couldn鈥檛 take.

I would like to go back for 200 years to see some of my ancestors, and found out about their daily life struggles.

We all look back and think it was better back then. It was just different and expectations were different. Go back 100 years and people died of curable diseases these days due to vaccinations and antibiotics and advances if surgery etc. are either wiped out or cured. The air was cleaner??? No they sprayed DDT in streets and everywhere to kill mossies etc. Industries spewed into the air. Fires were used in most households and this polluted the air as well. We cannot look back with rose coloured glasses thinking it was better. In balance some things were but others not same as today.

Even going back to when you were 19 and walking around would probably give you a bit of a shock...you edit out details...like a house party with everyone smoking indoors...even going into a busy pub...you wouldn't be able to breathe...your eyes would sting

Cigarettes did not become popular until after WW1 as soldiers were sent ciggies by the then governments of the day. I do remember going to hospitals, travelling on trains, parties, restaurants etc. where people smoked but I did not find it intrusive as people do today. I said 100 years back which would have been 1925 and things were very different then. Diphtheria killed so many for one thing. For me if I was 19 again it would be late 1960's and times were different. Not so many cars, people were more polite, jobs were aplenty, politicians much the same.
