I don't understand the popularity of certain things.

Certain TV shows and movies are sexist, unrealistic, ridiculous or something else that is awful about them, yet they are popular, WHY?
Why do some disgusting food and drinks become popular or a certain ingredient all of a sudden is deemed in so it is put in everything?
What are some things you have noticed that either are popular now or were popular in the past, and you are surprised they are or were?

    The Magic Bullet which I haven't used for ages. Juice extractor that I sold just recently. Detested TV shows - Home & Away, Mash, MAFs to name a few. Detest Tattoos and numerous piercings on women which are very, very popular. About food, l loved Apricot Chicken and Devils on Horseback Prunes wrapped in bacon and cooked under the grill. And who can remember Witches britches?

      Do you not wear hearing aids, our government helps us in New Zealand our welfare, I'm wearing the lasted technology hear aids I cannot afford them myself but with the welfare help I can they have paid for my hearing aids but I have to pay them back they take a little of the money out of my pension every fortnight until my hearing aids are payed off , they are the cheaper hearing aids but I can hear people on the tv with them .

      Yes, TV shows are too violent for entertainment. Way too much sex, portraying it as a casual thing .... so many shows show a couple just kissing for the first time and suddenly they're ripping each other's clothes off. WHAT?!?!! Can't they just have a nice kiss and then hug or smile at each other and think how nice that was?? Kids are getting the wrong ideas about how the world is or should be and they must be a little torn between what they want and what they see. And the popularity of guns in the United States is horrifying!!

        I have never gone for main stream things. I cannot stand reality shows and they have become low in intelligence in my view and shown low class humans the past few years. I do not understand why people have to follow everyone else i.e. online influencers etc. Avocado toast is another. YUK in my opinion and so expensive. Lamb shanks is another. We used to throw these to the dog but now they charge a fortune for them.I prefer to just go along my merry way doing, eating and watching what I want to. I never watch online influencers, blogs, or whatever.People have become more shallow it seems to me.
