Honestly I don't ever watch the so-called "reality" TV shows...! Because they are just ridiculous and truly ignorant and asinine in my opinion. They should all be cancelled permanently!!! Because anyone who actually watches them losses brain cells each minute watched!!

I don't watch reality TV shows. They are popular as they are put on early. I also record shows and so can fast forward the ads.

Different strokes for different folks. Some people like to be popular so will "like" something purely because others like it. There have been many fads that didn't interest me so I just get on with my life doing what I like and what interests me. What I don't like is when people tell me I should do something or like something.

Everyone has their own opinion. You watch certain shows or you don't. You eat/drink and test it out or you dont. I'm sure my taste differs to yours. Some shows for eg MAFS know how to attract people by editing. People are also bored and have nothing else to do.

I was very surprised Mash was very popular. With the gor and deviation shown. I love the tame documentary or interest shows.

If all things were equal, the weather, the cost of meat and other standard grocery items now being difficult to find and getting harder to pay for is it any wonder that we look around for "something different"! The TV shows I agree with Linda have gone down terribly in both themes and the acting of the characters but hey, you and I are getting older and what rings our bells probably doesn't for the later generations born after our arrival on this "topsy turvy" world of our present day!

Pepper is being added to lots of different foods. I used to like pizza (ham & pineapple) but they added something that is close to pepper and changed the flavour. Why ruin something. For awhile they put pepper into pies and there was none without. (Now there is certain pies with out it). I think that the Asian food is what they are trying for). My husband can't have pepper and other spicy food ( i.e. curry, chilly).

I did a test once..which all led to your important answer on the last question....the answer should be Sweden...I got Sudan instead...if you answered Sweden you would be in the 90% of the market who think the same way....all adverts and marketing are aimed at these people....the other 10% wander around wondering what's going on....their favourite colour paint, food whatever is discontinued...even spray paint for your car.. because there was no demand for it...and you get several TV stations dedicated to broadcasting unending shows you would never watch..in my country that is everything on 7,9 and 10...I'm glad I found out early......the world makes a lot more sense! It's because of money. Even if the surveys gave a certain result about an ingredient, or what is popular. The money writes the results of what is polular not the people. Just make your own decision, stay away from fashion and you should be better off. things are going to change soon if Neo robots are popular. Or will they be polular? It's just the media telling us they are popular even if it's not as popular as they say.

Media heads have a lot more control over what we see, thus over what we ingest from their sites. They (and their socio-political stands) push for specific products and thoughts; consequently, that is what we see. The 'vaccine' position the media still holds is one example of too many to name here of this.

I have to agree about TV and movies, hard to find appropriate shows if you are Christian. Food and drink we need to look at contents to feed our body what it needs. I never follow a fad.

I think humanity runs like a flock of sheep, you get a dog that barks, and the sheep move in that direction, people tell you you have to try this you have to try that and generally, we do, mobile phones, social media, are great examples of this, I am lucky enough to not have a phone, be on social media or have a credit card, I don't drink coffee and I buy my clothes from an op shop, the dogs don't bark a lot in our house because we don't want to be told what we need we like to discover things slowly at our own pace and when we can afford it Edited 05-Apr-25 10:14am

Yes. People follow trends, this seems to be the way of the world. I’m my own person too, I see things that are trends, and do my own research.

We as human beings have very different religions, backgrounds and views on life. I personally have an attitude of “live and let live” and ignore most of what is on social media and television. My only strong prejudice is against certain politicians. I will however admit to be confused by certain trends, such as word substitution. For some strange reason nowadays youngsters say “un-alive” instead of “dead”.

Cos Social media really makes shows more popular than they should be and reality TV is a dying art BUT commercial stations try to make them better than they are. Many food shows are a waste of space,BUT advertisers try to make them better than they really are

One of my sons has really enjoyed watching the Rick and Morty Show. I don’t personally see the attraction. Everyone is different with their own personal preferences. Spinach and kale have both been seen as superfoods. There has been controversy about both of them as to whether their benefits outweigh their potential harm. I am not really sure because I am not a nutritional expert. Sometimes things become popular and gain traction because some people don’t want to miss out.

My husband and I LOVE Action/Adventure and some drama. We watch N.C.I.S. (all versions), Tracker, FBI (used to watch all versions) but do NOT watch comedy or sitcoms. Never did "get" Pet Rocks; thought they were stupid and/or silly. And played Rubik's Cube for about 5 minutes before getting horribly bored (it's still out in the garage somewhere). Have no idea why or how things get popular (it's probably a good idea I was never in Advertising or Marketing).

I think people like to go with the flow so whatever is popular we tend to gravitate towards it. My wife is one of those people who has a fear of missing out (FOMO)

As for TV shows, I mostly watch METV, Hallmark and BBC shows, the Chicago, NCIS and Law and Order shows, and a few more (Found, Irrational, Grey's Anatomy), but reject the stupid, so called Reality shows! I don't know about food because I love most everything, but not so much about drinks. And, as Forest Gump might say, "Popular is as popular does."! ;-D
