Most things nowadays! We consume too much without questioning it, no doubt. At least most of my impulse purchases are pretty minor things like the occasional **brand name** food item instead of private label or, recently, a temporary tattoo i thought was cute haha. But definitely pointless. But at least I thought about it for a while!

Sorry people, I have never bought on impulse and never will. Money is too tight, in my budget. Always has been and I do not see the situation changing ever.

Gifts for other people like friends and family without thinking whether they are going to like them or not? It’s crazy right? Buying something you like to give a present to another! This is just impulse buying and end up in Op Shop charity!😊

It's comes down to the way it is advertised, making out that you need it, even if you can't afford it. But for me being on a fixed income I only buy something if I really need it and can afford it.

Lots of unwanted junk from the cheap online stores .

I only buy what I need and disregard most clothing offers but maybe I would consider getting a price on a new air conditioner etc be cause of the Amount size

I do not buy on impulse I budget and plan all my shopping with a list and on that list allow myself if something is on sale I believe is a good buy during the shopping time to have a $25 leeway to get something that might not be on my list at the time but would buy anyway later. As I know there are sales I might be unaware of and I make my trips count as it is a 50 mile round trip to town and back each time.

People buy things they wouldn't normally purchase because it is advertised as "on special" or "Save $". You are not saving $ you are spending $ that you would not normally spend.

Items which appear to be selling at unbelievably low price for the quality they represent which can be misleading ... or free gift with purchase or buy one get one free 🤔

You see something, such as a new shirt, and you think you can't live without it. It makes you happy like getting an unexpected gift.

Marketing! Marketing! and More Marketing! People see an item, which they probably don't need, with a big Ticket telling them that its half price so suddenly they Must Hav IT! We see increasingly numbers of Sales today, Half Yearly Sales, EOFY Sales, Pre & Post Christmas and Easter Sales, Cyber this that and the other Sale, Black Friday Sales and the Most Dishonest of All Sales: Clearance Sales. These are nothing more than efforts by Retailers to get rid of mostly Rubbish Stock they have bought which have not sold and still people get caught, they buy and then the item never gets used which they then dump at some unsuspecting Charity Op Shop.

Collectable action figures. Since Christmas I have spent more than I make...and I don't care! If it is a figure I want...I get it. It's something I can't explain to a non collector. ($$$ is totally irrelevant.)

Impulse have to have it now.

Our place always has a supply of biscuits, icecream and chocolate of some description ,so that I don't think about. I do try to get things on price reduced days but won't change my fav products. On an impulse buy it could be something like a new flavoured product or something on sale or a glittering shiny scratch ticket ,then I think afterwards when it doesn't win ,why did I buy that?!

lists are good to help keep you on track .... but slip-ups are inevitable, especially if you shop with children, or child-like individuals.

Fast food. So easy to get that burger and shake rather than pack a snack.

Food for me

Never. I go shopping with a list & only ever buy something extra is because I forgot to put it on my list. The only clothes I have bought in 12 months is some knickers. I have clothes that are 20 years old. I look after them carefully, if they need new elastic then I buy some & repair them. When shopping for clothes I always make sure they will go with the shoes I already have or different clothes I can wear them with.

DIY tools that I have every intention of using to decorate the living room and do a bit of interior design on the bedrooms, maybe hang some art or put up shelving… None of which I have made a start on!!

I think when something is on sale for a great price [ie. item of clothing] people tend to look at the bargin and not think whether it is really needed. Most of the time it will never be used.

We have a budget, a shopping list for groceries. Groceries - it is possible to be tempted by the specials, we allow ourselves the occasional treat

When i go shopping hungry, i buy things to eat which i regret later. Someone told me never go shopping hungry.

When the grandchildren come to stay it is Cereal, Milk and Bananas !

"I just had to have it" whatever it is, regardless of they needed more than putting decen food on the table, or buying something the family "really has to have"! Flipant and thoughtless is the "kindest" thing I can say to them without having to wash out my mouth with "soap and water"!!

in our house, most things are bought without thinking I tend to shop out of necessity whereas the women shop via the sales ticket buy two get one free, saving 30/40/50 percent even if we have the same product at home in multiple quantities, if it is on sale we need it apparently, I love a full pantry but just this week I counted 7 bottles of barbecue sauce 4 of tomato,8 cans of tuna 9 cans of spaghetti ,it goes on i don't write lists of things we need i write lists of what we don't need

Toilet paper would be one. Without checking my girlfriend has bought a pack each week ,her partner said that they must have over 100 rolls currently at home. For me it's milk. I have two big boys,milk gets used up very quickly,so I buy a bottle every time I go shopping.

I always say when I go to the Supermarket thing jump off the shelves (meaning they jump in to the shopping trolly at their own will). Food. No I do not buy clothing, or it is so rare. Some house hold goods I suppose I might buy with out thinking, because after buying I realise I didn't really need it. like electronic devices. I am usually a careful shopper, I always have a list when we go grocery shopping, yes we shop together. Occassionally, one of us will slip something into the cart that wasn't on the list.

After my daughter was born, I kind of did that, at least her dad thought so. I bought an expensive Family Album for our photos, and a high chair that turned into a play table later, I think? I don't, and haven't, done that in a very, very long time! Probably never during the rest of my life after that! ;-D

I buy only what we need, I have a list for groceries and do not deter from it when shopping.

My purchases are usually planned and I guess the only thing I buy without thinking would be food or drinks but for my wife it definitely would be clothes and shoes

Without thinking, for me, is probably a soda maybe a chocolate bar at the check out. Most everything I think carefully about how much it will cost.
