Living longer, or better?
Andrzej JJul 24, 23

What's the point of living to 100 and being in a nursing home with dementia? I've seen more than one person in that state and I'd rather croak right now than end up that way. If you have good health (physically and mentally), people you care for, hobbies and interests and time and money to enjoy them, then it's worth sticking around. Even being young doesn't matter if you're miserable.

I have always had to watch my money and at 73 still have a mortgage but am only on a government pension. No super or anything like that to help. I think to have a good life you do need your health and a healthy bank account so you can do the things you want and have the body/health to allow you to do so.

You can have money but no guarantee you'll live better if you have bad health and vise versa . No good saving for a rainy day as tomorrow is never promised not every one lives to be old.the way the cost of living rising we definitely aren't living a good life especially if your on a pension.

Health is always important I agree but having money allows one to have things the people without money can only dream about and I am not talking about high living, just basic stuff and this includes better health services instead of awaiting months or years to receive the basic health services this system offers. I cannot afford a cup of coffee out but this costing is always put to us that this increase in whatever is only the cost of a cup of coffee. Obviously the people who say this can afford one. We just battle on and hope we can pay the bills.

I disagree with the health issues if you have serious health problems they will rush you into surgery with out having private insurance depends on the seriousness eg cancer heart etc

Not always. I have had friends with cancer who have had to wait and they were in a serious health decline. I guess it depends on where you live. Larger cities I think might have better services in some areas. I guess it depends on the experiences one has to have an opinion in this area. I have always had good experiences but as I said others I know including family have not.
