I recently took on a position and found myself in such a toxic work environment (in a Professional office) that it literally made me sick for two months. When the issue was addressed about where the behavior was coming from, it was put off as a "misunderstanding" because I was new. Many people say never go to H.R because it makes you look bad and because it won't be resolved. It will be investigated but if no proof because the toxic atmosphere happens when the boss isn't around then you are labelled as the tattletale liar. Maybe in some jobs, it's the boss who is toxic.
